Stephen Aplin Obituary
Edwardsville - Stephen Bruce Aplin, age 71, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones at 10:29 PM on December 4, 2021. Stephen was born June 17, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of the late Sherman Bruce & Donna Marion (Sweet) Aplin. Stephen married Karen Rose Hocks on December 29, 1973, in Golden Valley, MN. In addition to his wife of 47 years, Stephen is survived by a daughter, Melissa Aplin (Scott Clendenen) of Maryville, IL; a son, Warren Aplin, of Edwardsville, IL; three granddaughters, Sydney Shimchick, Hailey Shimchick, and Olivia Aplin; one sister, Debra Anderson, of Chaska, MN; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Stephen was also preceded in death by a sister Kathy Childs. Stephen was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. Stephen enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also an international traveler.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Stephen was cremated according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association or Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Online condolences may be expressed at weberfuneralhome.com
