DAVID MILLS POWELL Jr.

DAVID POWELL Obituary

ELDORADO - David Mills Powell Jr. was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 15, 1934, the youngest child born to the late Elizabeth Rae Powell. Following his graduation from Eldorado High School in 1952, he graduated from Texas Tech University in 1957. He was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He came home to ranch in 1959. His plans to settle down were interrupted when the late President Kennedy recalled all reserves in 1961. David returned home in 1963 and pursued his interest in farming, ranching, racehorses and "the oil patch." His dream was fulfilled when his filly "Accusatory" ran in the All-American Futurity in Ruidoso, N.M. David will be dearly missed by his sisters, Judy Graham and Jean Ray; and his brother, John Rae Powell. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, in the Eldorado Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to hospice.
