Jesus Calzada Obituary

Jesus "Jess" Calzada

Carrollton, TX

Jesus "Jess" Calzada died on September 6, 2018 in Carrollton, TX of an aggressive lymphoma.

Jess was born on July 23, 1955 in Sanderson Texas to Alberto G. Calzada and Herminia Parada Calzada.

Jess was a 1973 Sanderson H.S. graduate. He was active in Sanderson football and played the trumpet in the band. He attended Odessa College and UTPB in Odessa, TX. As a child he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the level of Order of The Arrow. As an adult he was also Scout Master for his son's Boy Scout troop for many years.

Jess lived in Ponca City, OK from 1975 to 1980 and became involved in the Ponca Indian Nation. He then moved to the Dallas area where he traveled to Pow Wows with his family for many years as a part of the Mountain Creek Singers. Jess was known for his beautiful bead and feather work. Among them was the beautiful work he designed and beaded for his own children and wife's dance clothes. He also used his abilities in his own drafting, graphic signs, and banners business, NDN Graphics & Designs.

Jess and Angela Armstrong Calzada were in each other's lives and married for a total of 24 years. Together they enjoyed his favorite teams, the OU Sooners, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Dallas Stars. He was a jokester and he always wanted to know, "Where's the catfish?"

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

He is survived by his wife Angela Calzada of Carrolton, TX; his three children: Micole Harley Calzada of Fort Worth, TX; Son-Sie-Rai Espinoza and husband Javier of Irving, TX; and Jaisa Calzada of Carrollton, TX; his three sisters: Rosalinda Calzada Torres and her husband Gilberto of Ponca City, OK; Estella Calzada Menchaca and her husband Roberto of Seguin, TX; Evangelina Calzada Guerin and her husband Peter of Little Rock, AR; and his two grandchildren; Renai Martinez of Irving, TX and Javier Espinoza, Jr. of Irving, TX.

He is also survived by his Aunts, Uncles, many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and friends. He will be missed by his extensive Pow Wow family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Valwood Park Baptist Church, 2727 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX, 74234.
