Steven Gutierrez Obituary

SAN ANGELO On Friday, March 9, 2012, our beloved Steven J. Gutierrez Jr. was called home to begin his heavenly journey. He was an outstanding father, loving husband and uncle. Steven never met a stranger he could not call a friend. He would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket. Steven was a longtime employee of Baptist Memorials Center where he was loved and he will be greatly missed. He was born on March 2, 1974, to Steve J. Gutierrez Sr. and Guadalupe Gutierrez and graduated from San Angelo Central High School. Steven is survived by his parents, Steve Joe Gutierrez Sr. and Guadalupe Gutierrez; stepmother Elva Gutierrez; his wife of 14 years, Marianne Gutierrez; his daughter, Amanda Ortiz, and her mother, Paulina Ortiz; his two sons, Julio Lozano and Michael Anthony Gutierrez; his brother, Robert, and his wife, Mandy, and their son, Bryson Gutierrez; and his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Vicky Chabarria. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, in the "Remembrance Chapel" at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Steve will be laid to rest in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Gutierrez, Alex Rivero, Joe Escobedo, Jerry Guerrero, Armando "Diro" Guerrero and Zeke Garza. Honorary pallbearers will be Justo Guerra, Tomas Briones, Raymundo Hernandez, Joaquin Leon and Juan Navarez. Steven's greatest pleasures in life were spending quality time with his family, barbecuing, kicking back with his lifelong friends and watching his beloved Tennessee Titans play football on Sundays. Stevie was a wonderful person that I had the pleasure of meeting since the passing of our other three friends in Oct 2011. My husband had known him since they were 15yrs old and considered him more of a member of the family not just a friend. Steve was always the first to help in anything that a friend needed. He would smile and you would know that all was good between you and he. He is now in Heaven with our other three friends and they are saving us all a seat at the table with Christ. They watch over us daily and we are very lucky to have known Steve and his family. People like Steve are very few..I'm glad that we were blessed to called him our friend. God be with all who will miss Steve and God bless his wife, parents, brother and kids who will survive him. Steve was genuinely a great guy! He opened his home to my son for his 16th birthday in December and though I hadn't seen Steve since we were 16yrs old, he and Marianne welcomed me as if I was family. I will never forget his response when I had JC call him the next day so I could go help clean the mess...he said "don't worry abt it, I planned on cleaning anyway..I hope Sammy had a good time". I had the pleasure of meeting his kids, father, step mother and brother that night as well and it is no wonder Steve came from greatness! I am deeply saddened for you all! This also makes the 4th friend from "the crew" since October so you guys are all in my prayers as well.
