Geter Burchfield Obituary
He was a native of Graham County, and the son of the late Samuel Burchfield and Effie Prince Burchfield Carringer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth M. Burchfield, and sisters, Barbara Self and Clella Grindstaff.
Geter loved to hunt and fish, and he loved the Lord; he believed in giving his heavenly Father thanks for the blessing bestowed on him. "Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. The Lord that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion" (Psalms 134: 1-3).
He is survived by his sisters, Axie Lee Garland of the Stecoah community and Nettie Jane Cable of Webster, N.C.; sister-in-law, Antionette Corbin Burchfield of Upper Tuskeegee, N.C.; great-nephews and nieces, Marcia Williams of Upper Tuskeegee, N.C., Tanya Rhea of Elizabethton, Tenn., William Kenneth Burchfield (Kenny) of Upper Tuskeegee, N.C., LeeAnn Garland of Maryville, Tenn., Melissa Burchfield Holder of Elizabethton, Tenn., Ashley Rhea Wiggins of Reno, Nev., Brian Kenneth Rhea of Elizabethton, Tenn., Monica Williams Orr and Megan Williams Mason, both of Upper Tuskeegee, N.C., Amie Grindstaff Markland, Renee Grindstaff Mullins, Samuel Hunter Burchfield and Samantha McCollum, all of Elizabethton, Tenn., Stacey Burchfield of Robbinsville, N.C., and Zoe Burchfield and Elyse Burchfield, both of Asheville, N.C.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Stecoah Baptist Church. The Revs. Tom Buchanan and Mike Teen officiated.
Burial followed the service at the Hazie Brown Cemetery.
The family received friends from noon - 2 p.m., Tuesday at the church, prior to the service.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home was honored to serve the Burchfield family.
