John Arthur Whipple II, aged 46, passed away on Feb. 8, 2025, in Massillon, Ohio. Born on Dec. 4, 1978, John was known for his deep love for his family and his passion for sports, particularly his favorite teams: the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and University of Michigan football.
John graduated from Grand Haven High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and first showcased his love for sports. Although he did not pursue higher education, he found joy and contentment in the simple pleasures of life, such as attending ball games and spending quality time with loved ones.
John is survived by a loving family: his father John Whipple, stepmother Mary Ann Whipple, sister Lisa Whipple, half-brother Stone Whipple (Kourtney), half-sisters Ashley Erkes (Klint) and their daughter Lexi Erkes, Cathy Veysey (Bryce Jr. and Debbie), and Amanda Veysey (Faith, Hope and Grace). He is also survived by his nephew Anthony Whipple (Kamden Holschbach), as well as several aunts and uncles. John was preceded in death by his mother Janice (Vrba) Whipple, maternal grandparents Rudy and Peggy Vrba, paternal grandparents Art and Betty Whipple, and his uncle Allen Whipple and uncle Mark Vrba.
A memorial service will be held this summer in the Detroit area, with the specific date to be communicated to family members. In remembrance of John's life, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
John's legacy will be cherished by those who knew him as a kind-hearted individual with a genuine love for his family and an unwavering enthusiasm for his favorite sports teams. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories shared by his loved ones.
