Jerry L. Knutson
1951-2023
Jerry L. Knutson, age 71, of Grand Rapids, MN died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at home surrounded by family after an 18 month battle with lung cancer.
Jerry was born in August 16, 1951 to parents Kinton and LuVerne Knutson in Warren, MN. He grew up in Radium, MN where he attended school. After school, he married Cheryl Buchner on August 14, 1971. They moved to Thief River Falls, MN, where he began his first career as a manager for Conoco. In 1978 he was transferred with Conoco and they moved to Grand Rapids, MN. In 1987 he graduated from Hibbing Tech School with a degree in computer technology. After this he opened his own computer store that he operated until his retirement in 2015.
Jerry was often referred to by his children and grandchildren as "safety officer Jerry" as he often had all kinds of advice for us to keep us from becoming injured or losing limbs. Whether it be using a blender or driving a snowmobile he wanted to make sure we were all ok.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie and Larry. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Cheryl; daughters, Christy (Randy) Sweet, Bovey, MN, Lisa (Al) Bushman, Grand Rapids, MN, Jessica ( Chris) Bruggeman of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters, Elaine (Mark) Pederson of Warren, MN, and Bev (Conrad) Kostrzewski of Warren, MN; grandchildren, Ashley, Brant, Natalee, Carli, Kenzie, Gabi, Evan, Nick, Harlow, Emmett, Murphy, Morgan, Brooks, and Claire.
Per Jerry's wishes, no funeral services will be held, he would like everyone to have a 7 and 7 in his memory.
