Melvin Jay Beasley
Melvin Jay Beasley, known to all as Jay, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on November 10, 1940, in Taconite, Minnesota, to Hiljah and George Beasley.
Jay grew up in Taconite surrounded by the love of his parents and siblings Bill, Jack, Helen (Santa), and Pat (Carlson), all of whom preceded him in death. His passion for hockey took him to the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he played the sport he loved and met Patty Scharnott, the love of his life. They married in October 1960 and shared 55 beautiful years together until Patty's passing in 2015.
Jay and Patty raised three children: Joseph, Mary Beth (Kennedy), and Anne (Fehr). A devoted family man, Jay loved his family fiercely and dedicated his life to them. He owned and operated State Bank of Littlefork, Minnesota, where he served his community for many years.
Jay is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure the time they shared with him and the love he showed them every day.
Memorial services will be held in Spring/Summer 2026 in Grand Rapids, MN, where Jay and Patty will be reunited in burial. Peterson Chapel, St. Michael, MN 763-497-5362
