Mona L. Foix
1955-2025
Mona L. Foix, age 70, of Hill City, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at The Emeralds Nursing Home.
Mona was born in 1955, to Howard and Joan Sutherland in Grand Rapids, MN. She grew up in the Grand Rapids area, graduating from Grand Rapids High School. After graduating, she worked a series of odd jobs. Mona challenged herself, and in her 30's she attended Itasca Community College and got her LPN degree. Mona met Dennis Foix through mutual friends, and on April 7, 1990, the couple was married.
Mona worked for several years at Itasca Nursing Home, currently Grand Village, then eventually starting her own adult foster care home out of her residence.
Mona enjoyed traveling and camping, spending every Mother's Day at Pigeon River, and many hours at the cabin at The Lake of the Woods.
She was loving and caring, noted as everyone's mom, never knowing how many friends of her children would be arriving for breakfast, but always prepared. Mona had a smile that would light up a room, making even the hardest days brighter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Howard and Steve. Mona is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dennis; children, Jackie (Corey) Wilson, Dwayne Garrison, Ryan (Lanie) Schafer, Nathan Schafer; two special children, Trinity and Rhianon; sisters, Roxanne (John) Kohman, Cherie (Chris) Manner, Kimberly (Terry) Daken, and Lori (Patrick) O'Toole; 6 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many very special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hill City Baptist Church, Hill City, MN on May 24, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM and lasting until the 2:00 PM memorial service.
