Thomas Benton Obituary

Thomas Stephen Benton

1944-2025

Thomas Stephen Benton, age 80, passed away March 23, 2025, at home. Born on October 7, 1944, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Tom was adopted and raised by John and Mickie Benton of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Married in 1965 to Tamara Bogle, the couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Tom's education included high school; B.A. in accounting from University of Minnesota, Duluth; and Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Tom's occupations were Auditor, State of Minnesota, 1966-1971; Attorney at Law, 1972-1997; Owner of Coast to Coast Hardware, 1980-1986; and Leasing Officer, State of Alaska, 1998-2008.

Always planning for the next adventure, Tom and Tamara enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing in Minnesota. After their move to Anchorage in 1997, they continued to camp and delighted in exploring their new state. Spending time in Alaska with their daughter, Kim, son-in-law, Travis, and granddaughter, Amber, brought tremendous joy to Tom.

Tom was an avid pool player at Anchorage Senior Center and took great pleasure in smoking fish, poultry, cheese and pork. His lawn was admired by everyone in the neighborhood.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mickie, and brother, John.

Tom is survived by his wife, Tamara; daughter, Kim (Travis); granddaughter, Amber; brothers Bill and Mike; and sister, Joan.

No funeral to be held.
