William Huser Obituary

William Richard Huser (Dick) was born in Holdenville, Okla. on March 8, 1930, and went to be with the Lord September 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
At age 16, he had a calling, the ministry. He graduated from Oklahoma City University and Southern Methodist University, where he majored in Theology. He left Holdenville to start a church in Monterey, California where he preached for several years before tackling many other professions and places.
Many are familiar with his book, Confessions of A Sinister Minister, where Dick tells of his journeys as a student, pastor, life insurance salesman, regional manager, bartender, coffee vendor, business owner, national seminar speaker, and professional journal contributor, before going back in to the church as a minister in Georgetown and Lincoln California. His studies, careers in Calif. and travels to Europe provided unexpected and strange experiences to share, these were the ""confessions"" of his spiritual journey. Dick was a great storyteller.
Dick loved his family and credited his beloved wife Arlene for being his guiding force, as her encouragement helped him complete his book. His four sons Mark, Stan, Dan and Damon for giving him insight and revelations he hadn't seen. He jokes they were more ""reality"" than he could always cope with, but he wouldn't have changed a moment of their adventures for another pathway. He states his grandchildren have also helped make life worth living and brought hours of delight and warmth beyond their understanding or imagination.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife Arlene M. Huser, children Mark, Stanley (wife Karen), Daniel (wife Shelli), Damon (his love Sheila); seven grandchildren, William, Natalie (husband Aric), Cherie (husband Scott), Miles, Marcia, Levi & Addison; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Ayla & Jane.

A celebration of Life will be Saturday, Oct. 27 10 am at Turkey Creek in Lincoln, Calif.

It's taken us 10 days to come to terms with Dick's death. He was such a force of nature that it's difficult to imagine life without him. Brilliant writer, raconteur, bon vivant and master of the double entendre are just several of the adjectives that come to mind but none seem due him justice. Dick leaves behind more than a trail of fond memories, he a leaves well worn road on which we were delighted to rides with him on part of his great journey. We will miss the many happy times with Dick and Arlene over brunch at McCormick's and who could ever forget their annual Holiday "Doins", anniversary and birthday parties? We are blessed to have Dick and Arlene in our lives. Thank you.

Dear Richard! He was one of our close Seminary Brothers! We had many close times together and he was always at the heart of the laughter! My husband Hugh Hardin died several years ago and Richard and Arlene have been very supportive. Richard and I were the last of large families and I always felt we understood each other. May
God bless him and keep him. And love to all the children and especially Arlene. Love, Betty Hardin

Uncle Richard was surely a light in the lives of many, including mine. I shall always be grateful for that light, for his love and support, and for his great sense of humor.
Richard and Arlene, the love of his life, always had their hearts and arms open to enhance someone else's life. He was so proud of his sons and often spoke of them and their children over the years.
I shall miss him--miss hearing his "Hello Darling" greeting when we talked by phone, and now picture him with his parents, brothers and his sister, my mother, in joyful reunion, sharing that famous Huser laugh.
Our thoughts and prayers are with sweet Arlene, our cousins and their families.
With love from Linda, Jack and Miles

This man was always larger than life to me and in my heart he is still guiding us on the path that will eventually lead us back to him! He was a director, producer, author, and comedian in this play we know as life! Even as I know he has gone to be with his Savior, I can't help but feel that he is still here, available for advice and those words of wisdom he was so well known for. Godspeed dear Dick, and May you finally Rest In Peace. Our love to Arlene, Dyann & Ted
