Alfred Chandler Obituary

ROCKY BOY - Former Malta resident Alfred James Chandler Sr., 70, who retired in 1999 from the Phillips County News as print shop manager and who enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, watching calf roping and bull riding, and especially spending time with his grandchildren, died of natural causes Wednesday at his home in Rocky Boy.
A wake service will begin at 11 a.m. today at Rocky Boy Catholic Church. His funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Retha (Morsette) Chandler of Rocky Boy; daughters Tina Small of Rocky Boy, Kitty St. Pierre of Box Elder and Alretha Chandler of Big Sandy; an adopted daughter, Bonnie Long Knife of Rocky Boy; sons Alfred Chandler Jr., Corey Chandler and Ron Chandler, all of Box Elder, Phillip Chandler of Shelly, Idaho, and Taylor Small of Rocky Boy; adopted sons Tim Koop of Box Elder, and Ed Long Knife of Rocky Boy; sisters Shirley Woods and Ona Denny of Great Falls, Carmie Chandler of Havre and Elaine Chandler of Box Elder; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons Randy J. Chandler and Floyd H. Hopkins Jr.; and a grandson.
