Charles Danreuther Obituary

LOMA Charles Edward Danreuther 82, of Loma, died of natural causes Thursday, Nov. 15, at Big Sandy Medical Center.

Celebration of his life is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Big Sandy High School gymnasium with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton at 4 p.m. A dinner reception will follow at the Fort Benton Agriculture Museum following burial.

Charles was born Dec. 2, 1929 in Conrad, to Earl and Christina Ray Danreuther. He spent his childhood in both the Havre and Carter areas. During this time while living in Carter, Charles courted Janet, the "Teton Mermaid" at Reichelt swimming hole on Teton River. He won her heart over and on Feb. 20, 1949 they began their life of 63 years together with their marriage at the Methodist Church in Fort Benton. They purchased Charles' grandparents homestead from his uncle Hubert and started their new life of farming, raising wheat and children. After the years of raising children and going to countless ballgames, they enjoyed traveling to various places until the grandkids came around. Then there were more sports and activities to watch. He truly loved his family. Dad took pride in his farm and enjoyed every part of the process especially during harvest time. He enjoyed watching his children and their families grow over the years. He loved to call at 6 a.m. or EARLIER, to check on everything from weather, to farming conditions or just to see what was going on in our neck of the woods. Over the years Charles served on several different boards, Loma Water Board, Big Sandy School Board and Chouteau County Fair Board (where he was instrumental in helping coordinate the tractor pull). He also helped coach both pee wee and little league baseball and was member of the Masonic Treasurer Lodge #95. One of his greatest joys was serving as a Chouteau County Commissioner for 12 years. He simply loved working with the people in the community.

His interests included hunting, fishing, flying his Super Cub plane, bowling, attending auction sales and collecting tractors which he used in farming. As his farm grew, he made the transition from two wheel drive Minneapolis Moline, Olivers and John Deere tractors, to four wheel drive Wagners and Big Buds. You have to love the Big Bud!

He is survived by his loving wife Janet; children Rachel (Alan) Weaver, Carol (Dennis) Bahnmiller, Dan (Sparky) Danreuther, Rusty (Nona) Danreuther, Keith (Patti Jo) Danreuther, Calvin (Michelle) Danreuther, 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents and big brother Earl Arganbright.

Memorials may be given to the Big Sandy Medical Center or a memorial of your choice.
