Collin Cornwell Obituary

GLASGOW - Collin "Clay" Cornwell, 55, of Glasgow, died of heart failure Wednesday at a Glasgow hospital.
At his request, no services are planned. Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
Clay was born March 2, 1954, the third son to Walter and Ann Cornwell. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1976, with a bachelor's degree in animal science. Clay lived and worked his life on the Cornwell Ranch.
Clay's interest of cattle and horses came first in his earlier years. He was instrumental in implementing AI into the Cornwell cattle, and enjoyed all times spent working cattle. He was very proud of the Cornwell cattle and horses.
Clay was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting geese and was very protective of the small mule deer herd established close to his home on Spring Creek. A trained weather observer for the National Weather Service, no thunderstorm or lightening show went unwatched in this area.
Clay was a proud member of the National Cattleman's Beef Association, the Montana Stockgrowers Association, Elks Club and the Milk River Shrine Club, and he served as a state delegate for the Republican Party, attending several state conventions and all local meetings.
A very generous person, Clay forgot none on a birthday or at Christmas, and he put thought into everyone's gift.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Cornwell; his father, Walter "Bill" Cornwell; an older brother, Ward "Lynn" Cornwell; and an uncle, Howard "Tiny" Cornwell.
He is survived by one brother, Miles "Lee" Cornwell, his wife, Madylon, and their children Stuart and Audra; a sister-in-law, Debby Cornwell; niece Michelle Hoover, her husband, Chad, and their sons Dalon, Dane and Cale; niece Jamie Hadenfield, her husband, Eric, and their son Augustus; nephew Cody Cornwell, his wife, July, and their sons Jake, Jack, Charlie and J.P.; nephew Kirk Cornwell, his wife, Britney, and their sons Kolt and Klay; an aunt, Peggy Cornwell; and cousins LaMae, Roubie, Carol and Rene; cousin Paul Cornwell, his wife, Gwen, and their family; along with many other family members.
Memorials may be made to the Montana State University Animal Bioscience Building Fund, or any other local organization.

Howdy. My name is John Paulovich, from over here in New Jersey. I knew Clay back in the '70s at Colorado State University. He is the only cowboy I got to be friends with, though there was a bunch of goat-ropers from Nebraska over there. This internet deal allows us now to search for folks we knew but haven't seen for awhile. Well, Clay just popped into my head yesterday and I started searchin'. I found him ... Damn it ... Not the way I hoped or imagined I might, though. I think it was 1975 when myself and another CSU brother took the bus up to the Cornwell ranch. It was somethin'. It was the week between Christmas and New Years and it was practically a heat wave that year, but it got real cold as soon as we left .. drivin back to Fort Collins in Clay's Oldsmobile Toronado. We were in the corral makin' steers out of them 2 year olds, Clay was doin' the cuttin'. His dad was on horseback ropin' the hind legs while we were on the head. ... We went into town one night and played silver dollar poker in the saloon. Those memories have faded but not entirely gone. God Bless Clay's soul. I'll always remember him as a good man, and a good friend. If anyone cares to get in touch with me .. [email protected]

My condolences and sympathy to his family.
Sincerely,
John Paulovich

My sincere condolences for the Cornwell families. I graduated HS with Lee and Lynn and was floored with the passing of Lynn. But now with Clay also leaving this world it must be almost too much to bear. Thinking of you all. DB

We were so saddened to hear of Clay's passing. He always reminded Dad of Tiny and he brought a smile everytime we met. Sincerely Earl Daley Family
