Doris Voss Obituary
GREAT FALLS —Doris P. (Fjeld) Voss, 88, of Great Falls, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at a local hospital.
At Doris' request, a small graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 with burial beside her husband at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Doris Pauline (Fjeld) Voss was born on January 29, 1925 in Vang, North Dakota. She was educated in the vicinity of Langdon, North Dakota in Cavalier County. She came to Montana in December of 1942 and settled in Havre, MT. Doris met and married Alfred M. Voss in November of 1943. While he was in the Army during WWII she lived and worked in Los Angeles, CA. They moved back to Havre after he was honorably discharged from the service. They later lived in Chester and Hamilton and finally retired after 31 years of farming, in Rudyard, MT. After selling the farm, they moved to Great Falls. Her husband passed away in March of 1991.
Doris was an active member of the Inverness Methodist Church in Inverness for many years and the Christ Methodist Church in Great Falls. She was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran's Auxiliary. In her younger years, she was a dynamic 4-H leader in Hill County.
Doris was an avid card player and participated in many activities at the Great Falls Senior Center. She was also an exceptional seamstress and cook.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Carol Madsen of Missoula, MT and Colleen Voss of Janesville, WI; son Michael of Great Falls; as well as several step-granddaughters and grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and three brothers.
Memorials in Doris' name may be sent to the givers favorite charity.

Doris and my mom, Ruth Barrett of Chester, were in the Hi-Line Ladies Aid together then in later years Doris and I were in UMW together at Christ United Methodist Church, Gt. Falls. She lived about 4 blocks from me so I'd see her quite often but then we lost track of each other when she sold her home. Then, a couple months ago, I found Doris at the Eagles and with pad and pencil I was able to explain how we knew each other. I'll not forget her big smile and pat on the hand.
