Edith Weaver Obituary

HAVRE - Edith Mae Weaver, 81, of Havre, a retired state and federal employee, died of natural causes Monday at a Havre hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre. Memorial Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church.
Edith was born in Virginia City, Mont., on Oct. 22, 1928, to Percy Williams and Clara Judge. She lived in Virginia City until she was 9 years old; moved to Alder, Mont., and graduated from eighth grade there. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. She received a two-year degree from Western Montana College and taught the fifth grade in White Sulphur Springs for two years. She then moved to Livingston, Mont., and worked as a bookkeeper for Singer Sewing Machine Co.
In July 1951, she married Robert Goucher in Livingston, and they lived in Newburgh, N.Y. They were divorced in 1958. She married Robert Weaver in Lewistown, Mont., in 1962, and the years of their marriage were the happiest years of her life.
Edith worked as an assistant bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward in Great Falls, a bookkeeper for the NCO Club at Malmstrom AFB, and then worked for the 341st Supply Squadron for 18½ years as a federal employee. She then transferred to Havre Radar Station and worked there for 1½ years, until the station closed in 1979. She then became a state employee for the Montana Department of Transportation in January 1980, until her retirement in October 1993. She worked part time as a bookkeeper at the Eagles Manor after her husband's death in 1996.
She was a member of the Great Falls Eagles Auxiliary and was on the women's drill team for many years. She started a Junior Girls drill team and took them to convention in Butte one year. After moving to Havre, she transferred her membership to the Havre Eagles Auxiliary. In her spare time, Edith enjoyed sewing and her cabin in Wolf Creek.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Edith is survived by her four daughters, Marjorie (Tom) Crenshaw of Slidell, La., Lillian (Ray) Miller of Middle Island, N.Y., and Robin (Dave) Soyer and Patti (Mike) Anderson, all of Havre, Mont.; a son, Robert (Lynette) Weaver of Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Rose Baier of Seeley Lake, Mont.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
