Fern Reynolds Obituary

HELENA - Fern Mae (Krebs) Reynolds, 88, died of natural causes Saturday in Helena.
A graveside service and burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Helena. Hagler-Anderson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Fern passed away in peace Saturday, July 11, 2009, following a long, rich life and a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 11, 1920, to John P. and Cora (née Davidson) Krebs, at the base of Sawtooth Mountain on the family homestead near Augusta. Fern attended grade school in Augusta's Consolidated School District No. 45, and graduated from Augusta High School in 1938.
Bradley Reynolds and Fern Krebs were married June 21, 1938, in Choteau. Widowed after just four years, she raised her three daughters while doing ranch work for the Brusgard and Davison families. In the mid-1940s, the family moved to Helena.
Never afraid of work, Fern took various jobs working days and nights to establish her family in their new home. In 1953, she began working for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. By 1965, she was promoted to engineer, a position she held until retiring in 1983. Fern's unwavering dedication to her family and friends, and her stalwart code of ethics, made us all better people for her place in our lives.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Joan Elizabeth Baker and her children, grandchildren Fern Buckler, Jack Baker, John Baker and Annie (Baker) Schoepke; Bradley, Connie, Karen, Ed and Theresa Freiburg; and Katherine "Kitten" Beck, Kenny Leaf and Johnny Leaf; and several nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Fern was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mae Sophie Krebs; brothers Lloyd "Duke" Krebs, Roger "Hi" Krebs, John Krebs and Carl Krebs; a sister, Ila (Krebs) Lea; and daughters Virginia Freiburg and Katherine (Guff) Lenore Leaf.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Helena Youth Soccer Association, PO Box 6972, Helena, MT 59604.
