Gary Dion Obituary

HAVRE - Gary Alan Dion, 58, a longtime Havre area resident, died of a heart attack Friday at his home in Havre.
His memorial service is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Havre, followed by a fellowship luncheon at St. Jude Parish Center. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gary was born Jan. 17, 1952, in Havre, Mont., to Walter and Barbara (Hughes) Dion. He was raised and educated in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1970.
He married Letah Jacobson in Great Falls, Mont., on June 22, 1974. The couple had two children, and later divorced in 1987. Throughout Gary's life he had special relationships, and he raised two beautiful children. His love and compassion for so many people went mostly unrecognized. Gary was always there when someone needed assistance. He had a contagious laugh and he was a loyal friend. Gary enjoyed nature, trees, green lawns, and growing plants and vegetables, with raspberries being his favorite. His love of flowers was evident in the area around his home and all of the homes he cared for. His decorative abilities and keen eye for antiques were unsurpassed in this geographic area. He decorated with a very special touch to the taste of whomever he was helping. His knack of listening to what someone might be looking for would magically come to fruition and he would find this item in his travels and deliver it to them much to their amazement. Gary was always thinking of others. His creative ability was evident in his professional stories and personal dealings and his quiet accomplishments. He gave to many, unconditional love and loyalty. Those who were lucky enough to be his friends will cherish his memory forever.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Gary is survived by his parents, Walter and Barbara Dion of Havre, Mont.; his children, Karly (Jason) Wisher of Kalispell, Mont., and Collin (Katie Brady) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; grandchildren, Addison, Oakley and twins Barrett and Rowin Wisher, all of Kalispell, and one grandbaby on the way; his sister, Lana (Dave) Herman of Havre, nephews Ryan Mapes of Havre and Alan (Brooke) Mapes of Williston, N.D.; aunts and uncles, Patsy (William) Hedges of Havre, Bill (Judy) Hughes of Florida and Peggy (Don) Jarrells of Virginia; and many loving friends.
Condolences may be posted online at [email protected] and/or gftribune.com/obituaries.

This is very unexpected. A shock to both Fran & myself, his family and all of his friends. We will miss Gary's Christmas wishes. It was always nice to hear from close relatives. I'm just sorry it's been too many years since we last met. Our thoughts are with Gary's parents (Barb & Walt) as I know Gary was very much a part of their daily lives.
