John Koke Obituary

GILLETTE, Wyo. - John M. Koke, 43, a truck driver, Navy veteran and former Montana resident, died in a single-vehicle car crash Thursday 20 miles south of Zortman, near James Kipp Park.
At his request, no services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place under the direc-tion of Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta. His memorial service will be held at a later date in Zortman, when his ashes will be spread over the Little Rockies.
John is survived by his mother, Gail (Koke) Azure and stepfather Maynard Azure; sister Julie Lukes, her husband Tom and their son Mitch, all of Spokane, Wash.; his ex-wife, Linda Koke and daughters Courtney and Kaitlyn of Boston, Mass.; his special friend, Chrissy Mitchell and his son Jonathan of Worland. Wyo.; his aunts Jane Ereaux and Billie Rae Holman; cousin Bob Ereaux (Bridgett) and EmmaLee' Ereaux, all of Malta; his uncle, Larry Koke and cousins of Great Falls, Mont.; and John's good friend Wes Perry of Zortman, Mont.
He was preceded in death by a cousin, Matt Holman; and his father, Robert "Bobby" Koke.
Beloved son of Gail (Koke) Az-ure and Robert "Bobby" Koke, John was born June 9, 1967, in Libby, Mont. John was proud to be a certified truck driver in Gillette, Wyo., where he worked and was living. He graduated from high school in Spokane, Wash., and then joined the Navy, where he was in the honor guard. He had many jobs and was known as a jack of all trades.
He loved Zortman, Mont., and working on his Grandpa Swede Sundin's old buildings in Zort-man, and just being in the Little Rocky mountains. He enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family, and it was especially meaningful this summer when he and his children were all able to be together.
John was a kind person who loved helping out whenever he could. He was a talented artist and had a photographic memory. He was a gifted musician as well. He really enjoyed camping and found peace in the mountains.
Memorials in John's name may be made to a charity of the do-nor's choice.
Condolences may be left online at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com and/or www.greatfallstribune.com.

John....you will be missed by so many people. Even though it's been years since we last spoke, I will remember the great times in high school. You were always there, even when I needed someone to watch my little girl, you and Linda were there for me....My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this time of grief. Until we meet again...God Bless!

Dear Gail, Julie, Maynard and family of John,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
It has been many years since we have seen John, but we do remember the summers you all would come to Malta to visit and us kids would play all day/night long...running back and forth in the alley and swimming, lots and lots of swimming!
We may never know the reason God wanted his beloved with him at this time in his life, we can only wait for the rest of the story by having faith in Jesus, who IS the very definition of God's love for EVERYONE.
Be the guardian angel to all who miss you on this earth...until we meet again. Sincerely, Ann and Lori (Berg)

Johnny, you will be missed by all who knew and loved you. I can't help but go over the the many years of memories, when I used to babysit you and Julie and the many Christmas Eves our families spent together or when you and your family would come from Libby, MT to stay with our family for Julie's eye appointments. I especially and fondly remember when you and your beautiful daughter Courtney would come to my home and you remodeled our bathroom. You did such a beautiful job. You are with your dad now. Love from your cousin, Kathy (Robideaux) Robb.
