Thomas Fornall Obituary

Thomas Fornall

Tom Fornall of Augusta, Montana passed away on October 29, 2013 at the Teton Medical Center in Choteau, Montana. Tom was born July 9, 1935 to John and Margaret (Haggerty) Fornall in Glendive, Montana.

He graduated from Fairfield High School where he played football, basketball and track. He played Junior Legion baseball winning 2 state titles and a 2nd place. He played together with his brothers Don, Jerry, and Maurice with the team coached by their father, John. He attended the University of Montana and served in the Air Force. Playing professionally for the Great Falls Electrics, Tom and his brother Don also pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the AAA Farm League in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Tom, a true Montana cowboy, was a ranch hand for over 30 years along the front range of the Bob Marshall Wilderness. He lived a great deal of his life relying on his instincts and background caring for cattle and breaking horses. He was also an expert at fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening, and more.

Tom enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge for wildlife, ranching and the great outdoors. He was always quick with a good story, lesson or anecdote. Tom's passion spread to many family members who loved spending time with him in God's country learning to break a colt, hunt for elk and look for the perfect fishing hole.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret, brothers Jerry and Maurice, and most recently his sister Patricia Morrison, formerly of Scobey, MT (July 31, 2013) and brother Don of Rexford, MT (September 15, 2013). He is survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and their families. A memorial service will be held later at a time to be announced by his family, via his nephew.

Just now learned of Tommy's passing.Sorry to see such a good cowboy go. Remember him from the ranch, working with
Dad for so many years. Tom would be so patient with me as a little girl, helping me ride the horses. You leave lots of memories, thanks for them all. Janelle McCann Bilile
