What to say/ Don't know. Very saddened. One single thing stands out. John and I had a lot of hysterical laughing sessions while working together. His sense of humor was a gift to me. Condolences to his family.

John was my nephew, my eldest sister Judy's cherished son. The last time I was with John and his family was to honor the memory of his Mom. As with all such gatherings, it was tremendously bittersweet, to say the least. But, I will always remember the warm welcome I was given into John and Crystal's home at the time, getting to meet their dear children, as well as reuniting with John's sister, Kimberly---and meeting her children as well. I recall with both fondness and sadness that my older brother, John's Uncle Geoff was able to be there too. John was only 3 years younger than myself. He and his sister ~ for a handful of years, were more like my little brother and sister. We became family during those formative years, and since life took each of us too quickly in different directions with vast distances, it was especially precious to visit with him in Greeley in 2010. I think that is it only now, nearly 50 years later, that I am allowing myself to feel the sadness I felt around age 14 when John and Kimberly and their mother Judy moved on, out of my childhood home, and pretty much out of my life. But two other life meetings stand out and bring a smile. When my husband and I lived on Staten Island, NY in the mid-1980s, John came to stay with us for a few days. He and a pal of his had a notion to check out The Big Apple, just across NY Harbor---and we provided a handy place to crash. And another time, another year---it was Bruce and I driving cross country from Los Angeles back to Ohio with our new baby, when we stopped in Denver (I believe) and it was our turn to crash with John and Crystal. Crystal was pregnant at the time with their firstborn---and since our Charlie was already 6 months old, we gave then some of our already out-grown baby outfits. Somewhere, in one of our albums or dusty boxes----I have a photograph of John and Crystal when they were still "kids" themselves---John is holding up a tiny yellow "sleeper", and both of them were laughing and smiling at how very small it was. I love you, John. I know you're doing fine Over There, and I bet you've already had some marvelous surprises and adventures, which frankly, I'm pretty annoyed about. You weren't supposed to get there ahead of me. I miss my Family from this life like a fire in my heart---it burns fiercely some days and oh, so gently at other times. Now you've gone and thrown more logs on that fire. But don't worry...I'll catch you on the flip side, brat. God Speed.
