Rudy Olivo Obituary

Rudy Olivo earned his angel wings on May 30th at Pathway Hospice in Fort Collins, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was born at home in Alice, Texas on January 29, 1941 to John and Elena Olivo. He grew up moving around with his family as migrant farm workers. The family finally settled in Grand Island, Nebraska. Rudy was drafted into the Army for 2 years as a tank mechanic. After serving, Rudy worked at Diamond Engineering, Redman Mobile Homes, and retiring from Case New Holland. Even after he retired, Rudy went back to work at Turning Point in Fort Collins and as a campground host in Colorado, Idaho, and New Mexico. While cruising down Locust Street in Grand Island, Nebraska in his orange 68 Corvette Stingray, he met the love of his life, Sharon. Many people in Grand Island knew Rudy and his orange corvette. People would come up to him and say "Hi Rudy!" while he was in his corvette but he would not know who they were. Rudy loved spending time with his family and going on outings with them. He enjoyed camping, tinkering with cars, looking at cars, planes, and tanks, and playing guitars, especially with his grandson Dawson. He was a quiet man, yet everyone seemed to know him, his big smile, and his quirky humor. And as he got older, people would comment that he was a cute little guy. Rudy is survived by his wife Sharon (Brayton), daughter Courtney (Dan), son Scott (Cindy), and grandson Dawson, as well as many feathered and furry grandkids. He is also survived by brothers John, Ruben, and Alfredo Olivo, sisters Mary (Ron) Garcia and Sandy (Rocky) Rush, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Dario, Oscar (Sarge), and an infant brother, and sister Concepcion Ostos. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 29th, 6 PM, at 1275 58th Ave in Greeley, Colorado. Rudy's preferred attire was T-shirts and jeans. In honor of him, family will be wearing T-shirts and jeans. Please feel free to join the family in casual attire. Memorials are suggested to the Fisher House - Tucson VA 3601 S. 6th Ave (9-135FH) Tucson, AZ 85723. 520-838-3680
