Dearest Jane, Walker, and Noah-
We are heartbroken to receive this sad news about Steve..
Being next-door neighbors for a time in the 80's was such a blessing! Jane, you and Steve were always so kind to us and we never forgot it.
I know you remember that Steve raised homing pigeons and they had a roost shelter in your backyard. I want you to know that the pigeons are still here and I have always thought of Steve whenever I hear them cooing--which is alot!! I always wanted to tell Steve about that. I hope he'll know now.
Our prayers for your family to find comfort and peace at this time. Bless you all.
Much love,
Lynn and Nicholas Richardson

Dear Sears Family
I worked with Steve as administrative office manager at Sears and Company, Realtors, after his father’s passing, and Gus was friends with Steve at SMU and was persuaded by Steve to move to Greeley, CO. We remember Jane and him starting their family with their sons of which they were so proud. Steve had a way of leaving a lasting impression in our lives. It’s heartbreaking to see our friend pass on. May your warm memories bring you comfort. Hugs to you all.

I was so sad to hear of Steve's passing. I've put "coworker" as our relationship but in looking for the best photo I had of Steve, there were very few office photos, but plenty from the golf course, hiking, dining, or just hanging out. He was a good boss, who challenged and brought the best out of us, but also a good mate, that made my time at GSRJL just that more memorable and rewarding. I regret not being able to make the trip from Australia to the US to visit Steve in his native environment! My wife and I will miss him, and we send deepest sympathies to the Sears family.

My deepest sympathies to the family. Many of us who had the opportunity to work and play with Steve cherished the moments we spent together. Steve brought all of us together, always thinking creative ways to have fun and work, he accomplished so much but too soon.
Steve, I'll always remember the good times we had in Japan and Hawaii. Rest in peace.

Enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Steve both personally and professionally. He was always generous with his time and wanted nothing but the best for those around him. And while developing others as best he could, he also took every opportunity to learn himself and try and be the best person he could be too.
As a strong proponent of "ready golf", I'm sure he's giving them the hurry up wherever he may be!!
The photo attached was taken on the last golf trip I had with Steve in Barnbougle, Tasmania, Australia way back in March 2011. Unfortunately the last time I saw him.

I met Steve only briefly in Tokyo while I was transitioning out of my position at GS. Steve had recently arrived in Japan and we had a chance to have a few drinks and dinner here and there. Steve was well liked and respected by his staff at GS. Very sad to hear about Steve's long illness and passing. Condolences to the family.

Steve was a Class Act first and foremost. I had the pleasure of playing a bunch of rounds with him in some fantastic locations, Winged Foot, Sunningdale England, & Japan. He was always upbeat and fun to be with, even while he struggled with his health. He will be greatly missed.
