Diane Keyser Obituary

Diane Keyser

Green Bay - Diane Marie Keyser, 81, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Manitowoc to the late Victor and Leona (Rusch) Griffin the second of seven siblings.

As a youth, Diane enjoyed playing basketball and riding horses at her friend's farm. At age 12, Diane contracted polio and lost much of the strength in one leg. However, polio did not prevent her from living a full life; she graduated from Manitowoc High School in 1954, went to nursing school for one year in Chicago and eventually earned a Cytology degree in Madison. For 30 years, Diane worked for Dr. Sandmire and Dr. Bechtel at Bellin Hospital OBGYN Associates in Green Bay. For many of these years she was able to do her work from home and spend extra time with her kids during the summer. We all remember eating lunch at Kroll's, A&W, or Big Boy with her at 10:30 am! The last few years until her retirement, she worked in the lab and was well-loved by her co-workers for her sense of humor when dealing with their frequent pranks.

Even though polio robbed Diane of mobility as she got older, she continued to meet up with friends regularly to play Sheepshead, sing in the choir at Our Savior Lutheran Church, and shared a love of gardening and porch sitting with her late husband, Robert. Everyone in the family dearly misses the times spent at the home on Lakeside Place, sitting on the porch enjoying a BBQ, or enjoying the view of the Bay in the backyard under the towering cottonwood trees.

Diane will be deeply missed by her children, DeAnne Keyser, Matthew (Sonya) Keyser and Holly (Matt Schmitz) Keyser; five grandchildren, Maria, Beau, Griffin, Collin and Nicholas; siblings, Dennis, James, Anne, Sarah, David, and Michael, and many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

Her family will be holding a Memorial Celebration in Sister Bay on July 20 with Rev. David Hatch officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Mary Lou Keyser for her frequent visits to Rennes Nursing Home and for bringing Diane her delicious homemade soup.

I am so sorry for your loss. I loved working with your mom at OBGYN ASSOC. The many evenings we enjoyed Jake's pizza and sitting on the bay with your mom and dad. She was an amazing soul and a strong woman. May her spirit sore and happy memories flood you heart.
