Edward Farah Obituary

Farah, Edward J.

Edward J. Farah, 67, Green Bay, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at his home. He was born July 1, 1947, in Green Bay to Fred and Julia Farah.

Ed graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1965. He married Diane Levendusky on August 22, 1970. Ed served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He enjoyed playing guitar in many bands over the years, especially Second Century Band and the Class Act Band. He spent many hours recording with his best friend Jim Scovell and enjoyed time he could spend with his friends, Dave Pilz, David Johnson and his many musician friends.

Ed also had a special place in his heart for all of his guitar students, especially, Bree, Michael and Ayden. He looked forward to his time with his kids. Some called him Grandpa.

Ed enjoyed his monthly luncheons with his cousins Joe Seroogy, Bill Shalhoub, and Peter Matzdorf. He couldn't wait to come home and share all of their funny stories.

Ed is survived by his wife, Diane; his children and their spouses, Aaron Farah, Scott (Laurie) Farah, Shelly (Jay) Vanevenhoven, Eric (Tricia) Farah; grandchildren, Michael Dix, Samantha Jo Farah, Brandon Lindsley, Emily Farah, Autumn Farah, Jozef Farah, Maggie Farah, Cheyenne Storzer; great-grandchildren, Liam Farah-MacRaven, Leyla Grace Farah; two sisters, Jacqueline (Mel) Fisher, Patricia (Robert) Smits. He loved his nieces and nephews, John (Tracy) Smits, Johnnie and Robbie, Maria (Chad) Lasecki and Cayden, Jennifer (Don) Sipes, Joe (Peggy) Fisher and Morgan, Tammy Vannieuwenhoven, Alex and Megan, and Luke Ziolkowski.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Fred Farah; grandson, Taylor Farah; and a sister and her husband, Mary Jane and Henry Ziolkowski.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday. The Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pat Dennison officiating. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

My condolences go out to all the people who loved Eddie the way I do. I always looked forward to seeing Eddie every week. He was an amazing guitar teacher, and by amazing I mean the best guitar teacher you could find. He taught me so much, believed in me, and always did and will inspire me. Eddie was an original. I loved listening to all of his stories and jokes. He always made me laugh. I will miss Eddie dearly. I will continue to play guitar for Eddie and every time I pick up the guitar I think of him.

My condolences to the Family. A good guy gone too soon.

First met Ed in '64 and he asked me to show him a James Burton lick. (I was 20 and Ed was 17!)

RIP buddy and I'll bet you still know that lick!
