Gary Pagel Obituary
Gary L. Pagel, 76, Green Bay, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was born on August 2, 1940, to Les and Viola Pagel in Green Bay at the Jersey Farm Dairy. The family moved in 1944 to Popple River, WI where they owned and operated the Pagel Bar.
Gary graduated from Laona High School in 1958.
He joined the Army when he turned 18 and was stationed in Germany, right next to Elvis Presley. Upon finishing, he returned to Green Bay where he met and married Nancy Maccaux on May 25, 1963.
Although Gary had other jobs in his career - he was known for his outgoing personality and knowledge in the insurance industry. Gary started working as a Farmers Insurance agent, but soon branched out to start a new agency with Gerry Baye, forming Baye-Pagel Insurance. Shortly after Gerry's retirement, Gary started a new insurance agency with his son Kelly, Pagel & Associates Insurance which is still going strong today.
Family is and always was Gary's first priority. Whether he was 'Up North' watching the deer, fishing, having an old fashioned or just sitting - you would always find him happiest when his family and friends were around him.
Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy, and his children: Shawn (Cathy) Pagel, Cori Lardinois-Pagel, and Kelly (Jeni) Pagel. He was the proud grandpa to Josh Lardinois, Justin (Michelle) Lardinois, Joe Lardinois, Beth Pagel, Jade (Adam) LaCount, Dillon Pagel, Brett and Ellie Pagel. He was an even prouder great-grandpa to Sophie and Bentley. Gary is also survived by his siblings: Bob (Shirley) Pagel, Wayne (Geraldine) Pagel and Sandy (Jerry) Klukow and their families.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon at the funeral home with Deacon Nick Williams officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Dear Nancy,
We were very sorry to hear of Gary's passing. Suddenly we remember the fun times we shared with you and Gary. I remember dancing the "Irish Washerwoman" with Gary. He was a very good dancer.
The camping trips we did with you two were so full of excitement we could have written a book when we got home! Remember the time Cory fell asleep in the back of the car and we spent hours looking for her, thinking she was lost? Remember that she loved the attention so much, that she tried hiding there the next day? We have a lot of nice memories of Gary. Those campfires were something else again!
Gary will live on in all of our hearts with the memories we have. He lives on in your children and all their memories of him. Most of all he lives on in you, Nancy, when you think of all the times you shared.

I am so very sorry to learn of Gary's passing. I got to know him when he opened up his insurance office several years ago across the hall from the RGIS office. My husband and I over time switched our auto, then homeowners and boat insurance to Gary and Kelly. Fantastic service, always! When I was moving my dad and cleaning out his house in IL, Gary would see me and ask how it was going. He always reminded me of my own dad. Gary was a great person and will be sorely missed. Prayers of comfort for all the family.
