Brunette, George

George F. "Bunky" Brunette, 84, Green Bay, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 24, 1931 in Pequaming, Mich. to the late George "Pat" and Lillian (Wagner) Brunette. George graduated from L'Anse High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the 431st Fighter Interceptor squadron from 1952 to 1956. On January 20, 1968, he married Geraldine Gerlikovski at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

George went to school in Milwaukee to study electronics repair and returned to L'Anse to open his own TV repair and sales shop. Later, he drove for Pettibone Corp. and worked up to a heavy machinery salesman. He retired from his sales career from American State Equipment.

George was a member of St. Agnes Parish and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, golfing and his time at his camp in Skanee, Mich.

George is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Brunette; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachelle and Dan Henry; two granddaughters, Paige and Kendall; two sisters, Darlene Miron and Cheryl Ongie; a brother-in-law, Ken McKenzie; several nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Beverly "Ginger" McKenzie; an infant brother, Ronald Brunette; two brothers-in-law, Claude Miron and Arlen Ongie.

Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Patrick C. Gerry: So sorry to hear of George's death. I am in California until Thursday and George is driving truck so we won't be able to make the service. Our sympathy goes out to your family. I will always think of George as to how he could call a penalty at the Packer games. We will certainly miss him.
