Matthew Thomas Obituary

Thomas, Matthew J.

Matthew J. Thomas, 52, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local hospital on May 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 2, 1962, in Berlin, Wis., he is the son of Audrey (Paral) and the late Winford Thomas. Matthew was a loving father, son, and brother, with a kind and generous heart, who loved to share his natural-born gifts. He was extremely talented at everything that he did in life and had a passion for writing and performing music, and making people laugh. Next to his family, one of his greatest achievements was the work that he did at Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, especially the creation of the Wall of Honor to pay tribute to America's Military Veterans.

Matthew is survived by his loving children, Logan Thomas, Nashville, TN, Beau Thomas, and Audrey Jane Thomas, both of Green Bay; mother, Audrey Thomas, Green Bay; four sisters, Karen (Tony Gaines) Thomas, Green Bay, Kathi (Gil) Wright, Town of Scott, and their children, Ben, Eric, and Lydia, Jill Kahovec, Green Bay, and her son, Daniel, and Judi (Randy) Korth, Green Bay; many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; mother of Matt's children, Jane Brzezinski; and Clay and Bernadette Aumann.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Ann Froelich, Pastoral Associate officiating.

So sad to hear the news of Matt's passing. We had spoken recently and laughed about old memories, and talked about our kids. He was so proud of his. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Matt. I remember him well as a playful student and was just sharing a story about him the day before I heard of his passing. May he rest in peace.

To Matt's family, our deepest sympathies. Like Carrie Stroschein said, the gang at Sand Bay was like no other. Matt was a big part of that, always, always making us laugh. Many times he'd just show up on the jet ski and before you knew it you were rolling in laughter. And what a musician. I stayed out till 1:30am at Hero's to watch him sing and play his guitar. I can still see and hear him singing "I'm a Believer" by the Monkeys. Sing in heaven, Matt! All our love and prayers to your family. The Don Farah Family

I have great memories of going out West skiing with Matt, skiing at Whistler as well the mountains of Colorado. They were great memorable times we had a blast. Matt skied with reckless abandon and great enthusiasm. He will be missed by me and many others. The world is a better place for Matt having been in it.

Thomas Family and friends:
A true Sand Bay friend, many fond memories growing up with Matt in Sand Bay.
Playing volleyball on the beach, late night bonfires, kick the can around the resort, four square. Car loads of all of us traveling up to Thumb Fun and the Haunted House. We always talked about writing a book about all the adventures we've experienced together. The bond of Sand Bay kids at that time is something that our children probably have never experienced. Matt, you will live on in the many great stories we all have shared together.
We will all keep those memories close to our heart.
