Peter Gerl Obituary
Peter John Gerl II, 38, of New Franken, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
He was born December 25, 1977 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Peter John Gerl and Janet Marie (Kiehnau) Gerl. Peter graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1996 and went on to study woodworking at Milwaukee Area Technical College where he earned his degree. He was a talented woodworker and cabinetmaker and made numerous pieces for family.
Peter married Kelly Ann DeMelle on June 24, 2006 in Leavenworth, WA. They shared nearly ten years of marriage together.
Peter enjoyed deer hunting, spontaneous fun and adventure, and bringing out the best in people. Above all, he loved his family.
Peter will be deeply missed by his wife, Kelly (and their children, Pierce and Elise); parents, Peter and Janet Gerl of Sturgeon Bay; sister, Amie (Donald "Bucky") Laabs of Neenah; mother-in-law, Pam DeMelle; father-in-law, Peter (Ann) DeMelle; brother-in-law, Kyle DeMelle; all of Sturgeon Bay; aunts and uncles; cousins; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Sr. and Dorothy (McCulley) Gerl; maternal grandparents, Reuben and Doris (Soares) Kiehnau; and two uncles, Scott and Dennis Kiehnau.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday June 23, 2016 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Richard Feyen officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given for Peter's family.
