I knew Richard since the Summer of 1994, when we both started driving for Chris Erickson at about the same time. Actually, since Chris was short on trucks at the time, Richard and I ran together as a team for a couple of weeks. That was when I got to know Richard real well. We certainly hit it off and became good Friends! Richard had an Incredible Sense of Humor!! He kept me in 'Stitches' most of the time! Richard was also a VERY GOOD STORY TELLER!! His 'Truckin' Stories' were absolutely HILLARIOUS and as far I could tell, they were absolutely TRUE!! I might add that Richard was an EXCELLENT TRUCK DRIVER!! I do not sleep well or not at all when most people are driving, however, with Richard, I slept like a baby! because I trusted his driving!
I switched companies in 2008 and no longer go to Green Bay. So I had not seen Richard in a long time until this past summer, I happened to cross paths with him at a truck stop in ILL. He was fueling but we had a nice talk for about 20 minutes! We got caught up on things and Richard was looking forward to getting his new truck! When I heard Richard had Passed Away, I was SHOCKED!! I have lost a Good Friend!
I know that Richard Loved his Wife and his Son, Tyler. I offer my Deepest Sympathies to them! Cherish the Memories you have of your Husband/Dad. Another thing Richard and I had in common is that we both believed in God. Its because of this FAITH in JESUS CHRIST that we can be SURE that we will see and be with our Loved One again someday in PARADISE!! For a Christian, death is just a TEMPORARY GOOD BYE! I will miss Richard a lot and look forward to meeting him again in HEAVEN! Who knows, maybe we will be Driving Trucks up there!
I'll say Goodbye just the same way Richard and I used to Jokingly say goodbye to each other on the C.B.: "I Love You, Man!"
