XENIA — Archie Lee McPherson was born on February 3, 1930 in Gould, Arkansas to Rev. John D. and Pearl (Roberts) McPherson. After having lived a full and vibrant life, he departed on December 31, 2020 at the age of 90. He was an Army Veteran, PFC in the 118th Army Band and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1957. Archie's true passion was Jazz, and he was an accomplished musician (arranging and composing). He played several instruments including the trombone, trumpet, drums and his favorite, the piano. He once had the pleasure of opening for B.B. King. He retired from the Dayton West Side Cab company and pursued his love of music by playing with various bands, including the Eddie Brookshire Band, and shared his talents as a lifelong member of United A.M.E. Church. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 9, 2021 at United A.M.E Church 286 East Church St, Xenia, Ohio. Friends will be received at 11am until time of service which will be at 12 noon with Reverend Dr. John E. Freeman officiating. Social distancing protocol will be observed, and face mask will be required. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Freeman Funeral Home.

Archie was a very,very good friend. He had an enormous love for music, church, family and friends.
As the days and weeks pass, we will miss your music played on the piano and trombone but it will forever be in our hearts. We miss you! Eddie & Brenda Brookshire
