Dean Tipton, 70, of the Milburnton community, passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was a member of Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He retired from the Greene County School System, making more time for enjoying time on the farm with his cattle and his hay fields.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Sharon Fox Tipton; three children and their spouses: Tammy and Robby Swinney, Steve and Robin Tipton, and Richard and Jennifer Tipton; grandchildren: Cody and Emily Swinney, Cory and Jamy Swinney, Seth Tipton, Trent Tipton, and Alyssa Tipton; great-grandchildren: Cara, Tristan, and Renleigh Swinney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Betty Tipton, Evelyn Tipton, Charles and Linda Fox, Paul and Melinda Fox, and Diane and Rex Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Hamie Tipton; two brothers: Garland Tipton and Wade Tipton; and three sisters: Geneva Milburn, Olive Smith, and Helen Hubbard.
The family expresses a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, Tammy Ambrose, and Dr. Daniel Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton chapel. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in Jeffers Afton Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating.
The burial will follow in Fairview CPC Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; or Fairview CPC Cemetery Fund, c/o Bennie Malone 4040 Snapps Ferry Rd, Afton, TN 37616.
