Deborah Bible Obituary

Deborah A. Bible

Born: January 12, 1955 | Died: August 16, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Deborah A. Bible announces her passing on August 16th. Deborah was a kind and generous spirit, always willing to go out of her way to help others. She placed her family at the center of her life and was unwavering in her devotion to them. This devotion also extended to her two loving dachshunds, Max and Jax.

For 32 years, Deborah dedicated her career to Tusculum University, serving in various roles within the TRIO Program. Through her work, she guided and encouraged hundreds of students to recognize their academic potential and pursue higher education. During this time, she also accomplished her own educational goals, proudly earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree.

Deborah was a creative and talented individual whose many hobbies brought her joy. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, reading, musical theater, and traveling. She was also a loyal fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, cheering faithfully for both the football team and the Lady Vols basketball team.

Faith was at the heart of who Deborah was, reflected in the kindness and grace she extended to everyone around her. For more than two decades, she worshiped at Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she built lasting friendships and shared her devotion with her church family.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, William Jess and Ruth Gass, and her brother, William Gass.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Earl Bible, and her beloved siblings: Mary Sue Balding, Emma Lou (Ottis Haney), Patsy Wadell, Billie Joe Bible II, Marty (Linda) Bible, and Mitzi (Micheal) Vaughn.

She also leaves behind her children-Bryan (Sonya) Bible, Kristen (Aaron) Caton, and Brandon (Heather) Johnson-along with six grandchildren who were the light of her life: Wyatt and Alyanna Bible, William Caton, and Liam, Jack, and Asher Johnson.

She was blessed with cherished friendships that endured throughout her life, including Patty Eiskamp, Karen Hartman, Stacey McGill, Terry Officer, and Mike Roberts.

The family would also like to extend its apparition for Dr. Andy Roberts, who always went above beyond the call of duty to treat Deborah in her times of need.

The receiving of friends and family will be held at First Presbyterian Church in the Simon Room from 4 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
