"J.W." Ragon, 92, of Midway, passed away Thursday at Lifecare Center of Greeneville.
He retired from Austin Co. and Enka.
He was a member of Christian Heritage Church of Greeneville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was well known for his smile and his love for the Lord.
He was a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles during the Korean War.
He is survived by daughters: Yvonnda Davis of Warrensburg, Tammy Hensley and Leonard "Peanut" of Greeneville, and Lois Ragon of Midway; a son and daughter-in-law: the Rev. Johnny W. "Bo" and Denise Ragon of Mosheim; grandchildren: Melanie Ragon, David W. Hinkle, Temeka Jennings, Latashia Ragon, Emma Seaton, Jan Dean, June Carter, and Joan Parker; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lurrell Mary E. "Nanny" Weems Ragon; a granddaughter: April Mochan Story: a great-granddaughter: Naomi Grace Seaton; his parents: Earl and Ada Ragon; and a sister: Elouise Myers, Geraldine Ripley and Linda Rhea Voiles; and two infant brothers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Bible's Chapel Church. The funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Tim "Bo" Carson and the Rev. Mark Laughlin officiating.
Graveside will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Bible's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Darwin Lamb, David Smith, E.J. Davis, Dakota Trantham, Lance Dean, and Joe Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers will include David Hinkle, Daniel Seaton, Hunter Seaton, Brandon Carter, Trent Dean, Alan Davis and the men of Christian Heritage Church.
The family expresses a special thanks to the staff of LifeCare Center of Greeneville, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
