It is with profound sadness and immense pride that we announce the passing of Capt. John Douglas Morrow, father, grandfather, great grandfather, patriot and brilliant mind, whose legacy of service and innovation leaves an indelible mark on this world.
John began his distinguished career in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country with dedication and excellence. His exceptional intellect and unwavering work ethic quickly set him apart, laying the foundation for a lifetime of contributions to national defense and aerospace advancement.
Following his military service, John was pursued by The Boeing Company, recognizing the rare caliber of his expertise. During his tenure with Boeing, he brought a wealth of knowledge and leadership to some of the most critical programs in aerospace history. Among his most notable achievements was his work with NASA on the international Space Station program-advancing the frontier of human space exploration. He also played a role in the United States Missile Defense Program, contributing to the nation's strategic security with both vision and precision.
Respected by peers and admired by those who had the privilege to work alongside him, John Morrow combined technical brilliance with humility and integrity. His legacy is not only in the programs he shaped but in the lives he touched and inspired.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his service, intellect and the profound impact he made on his country, world and family.
He was born September 30, 1941 in Greeneville to John and Rena Mae Cutshaw Morrow. He passed away August 28 at his residence in Crane Hill, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jody Douglas Morrow.
He is survived by his son: Greg (Tina) Morrow; his daughter: Serena Morrow Loveday; his grandchildren: Danielle (Cliff) Briggs, Ricky (Kaydence) Loveday, John (Kaysie) Morrow, Brandi (John) Hardin, and Brandon (Elizabeth) Garber; great-grandchildren: Kamdyn, Mackenzie and Hadlie Briggs, Ryker Loveday, Edith Morrow, Kylinn Davis, Aivery and Lainey Hardin, Bryson, Bennett, and Brody and Esmeralda Garber; his stepchildren: Jason (Allison) Barnett and their children, Georgia, Callie and Elizabeth Barnett, and Ashley (Whitney) Wolf, and their children, Jack, Siler, Blair and Zell Wolf.
Inurnment service will be held October 11 at 2 p.m. in GreeneLawn Memory Garden, Serenity Garden Columbarium.
