John Sterling Obituary

John Houston Sterling

John Houston Sterling, 54, of Greeneville, TN, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 31, 2025.

Born on August 9, 1970, John was the beloved son of Margaret Jean Sterling and the late Jim Sterling. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathy (Sterling) Jones and husband Stacy.

John was known for his hardworking nature and generous spirit. A talented repairman, he also worked part-time as a groundskeeper and maintenance man for several families in the Greeneville area. Always dependable and kind, John was a friend to many and a familiar face throughout the community.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jean Sterling; his children; his niece, Sydney and Chris Bardo and their children; his nephew, Alex Jones; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will deeply mourn his passing.

John's favorite scripture was "God is love." (1 John 4:8), a verse that reflected the quiet but steadfast way he lived his life.

There will be no formal services. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
