Kenneth Wayne Thacker

Born: January 3, 1951 | Died: September 3, 2025

Kenneth Wayne Thacker, age 74 of Greeneville entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 3 at Greeneville Community Hospital.

Kenneth was a graduate of Greeneville High School. He was employed at Aerojet Ordnance as a CNC lathe operator for ten years before facing the challenges of a rare autoimmune disease that left him disabled. Despite his illness, he continued to work various jobs. He particularly enjoyed his time spent at Red's Diner at Dollywood. He was an inspiration to many through his strength and perseverance.

Kenneth will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for his family, and his love of ice cream. He particularly loved his fur babies, Ellie, Charlie, Pumpkin, Spice, Jimmy and Lizzie, which brought him much joy.

He was a faithful member of United Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and various capacities over the years and was a great inspiration to the congregation.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Pamela Bailey Thacker; sister, Pat Hall of Kingsport; cousin, Chris (Loretta) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Stan (Jeannie) Bailey; David (Sheila) Bailey; sisters-in-law, Elisa (James) Tomlinson, and Maria (Richard) Swecker. Nieces and nephews; Nick (Holly) Bailey, Erica (John) Buchanan, Holly (Chris) McCoy, Dr. Tyler (Ashley) Bailey, Dustin (Mercy) Bailey, Valerie (Brandt) Yount, Victoria (Nolan) Hensley, Leslie Saervold, Jeff Hall, Josh Hall; and several great nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thacker and Lennie (Lou) Thacker Mills; brother, Ricky Thacker; father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Violet Bailey; brother-in-law, Bill Hall.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Monday, September 8 at Jeffers Funeral Service at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Lamar Whittemore, Danny Ellis, William Travis and John Buchanan officiating. The graveside service will be 11 am on Tuesday, September 9 in Graceland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David Bailey, Dustin Bailey, Nick Bailey, Stan Bailey, Tyler Bailey, Nolan Hensley, Chris McCoy, James Tomlinson, Brandt Yount.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Harmon and Jonathan Sweeten.

The family is grateful for the care and compassion shown to them by the 3rd and 4th floor staff and Drs. Steven Prince and Manju Pushkas at Greeneville Community Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Kenneth's name to Gateway Christian School, 1 Gateway Drive, Middlesboro, KY 40965.
