Lisa Rena Wilcox, 59, of the Ottway community, passed away at her home Sunday after a 2 1/2 year battle with ALS. She fought hard and worked up to the end.
She has made a big impact on many lives working with intellectual disabilities for 30 years.
She was born and raised in the West Pines community.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Jessica and Eric Lutz; granddaughter: Brylee Lutz; her special dog: Smokie; her parents: Don and Stella Wilcox; sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna and Jeff Lowe, Sheila and Marlon Hyatt, and Angie and Les Weems; nieces and a nephew: Katelyn Weems, Kimberly Darnell, and Jason Lowe; special friends: Missy Ottinger, Cynthia Hubbard and her other work family at Heartland Services; and special caregivers: Chance Gillespie, Dakota Pasour, and Brandi Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton chapel.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Jeffers Afton chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Baxter will officiate.
The graveside service will follow in Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Tanner Moylan, Patrick Coleman, Jim Franklin, Les Weems, Jason Lowe, and David Darnell.
The family expresses a thank you to Dr. Ken Nickel and Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice.
