Sharon Ramsey, of Afton, passed away Wednesday at her home.
Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She was an active member of the Lower Light House of Prayer until her health no longer permitted.
Sharon brought light to every room she entered with kind words, warm hugs, and prayer filled love. She loved her family and the lord with all of her heart. She will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all that knew her.
Sharon was a licensed Hair Stylist and delivered commodities for the Neighborhood Center in Greeneville. She found her true calling in serving warm meals and loving fellowship as the owner of the Stockyard Cafe and preparing meals for the Police Academy Cadets at Walters State Community College for 10 years.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years: Carmen Ramsey; sons: Robert Douglas Ramsey and his wife, Cara, Randall Darren Ramsey and his wife, Kema, and Rodney Darrell Ramsey; a daughter and very special care giver: Rebekah Denise Mercer and husband, Allen; grandchildren: Joshua Hensley, Chasity Ramsey, Russell Ramsey, Cameron Kiker, Dylan Mercer, Rodney (Briana) Ramsey, Brooklynn (Aaron) Jones, and Dawn (Corey) Yokley; great-grandchildren: Reagann Honeycutt, Wyatt, Declan and Ivey Jones, Hudson, Memphis and Cruz Ramsey, and Aiden and Kinley Yokley; a sister: Lynn Glass and her husband, Barry, of Springboro, Ohio; as well as extended family members; special sisters-in-law: Patsy Ramsey, and Ethel Mitchell and her husband, Frank; and several very special church friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son: Russell Damon Ramsey; her parents: Harry and Mayme Snider, her very special grandmother: Mollie Adams, a sister: Sandy Ridenour; and a brother: Robert Snider.
The family expresses a special thank you to University of Tennessee Hospice Services, nurses, Barbara Sandleben and Angie Reed for their loving care in her last days. Also special thanks to Ellamae Pridemore for loving our mother.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in Jeffers Afton Chapel with the Rev. Benny Hensley officiating.
The graveside service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Greystone Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Doug Ramsey, Darren Ramsey, Dylan Mercer, Josh Hensley, Rodney Ramsey, Allen Mercer, Timmy Ramsey, and Joe Jennings.
