Thelma Ruth Anest, 99, of Anest Road in the Horse Creek community, passed into eternal glory at the end of a long life lived for Jesus Friday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.
She possessed a beautiful faith in Christ Jesus, which never wavered, never faltered, and never varied with the God of the Scriptures "In whom there is no variableness. Neither shadow of turning." For a greater appreciation of her life and work, there was no more certain appreciation than "Chrisley" by Kathryn Marshall.
A Christian educator for more than 53 years, 37 of those years full-time in the classrooms of the Greeneville City Schools, one year in the one room, Pleasant Hill School, and many years, substitute teaching and mentoring others everywhere she went.
She was a longtime member of Tusculum Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons: Gary F. Anest, Phillip W. and Barbara Anest, and Dean C. and Ramona Anest; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Clarence F. Anest.
The Anest family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Mark Laughlin will be officiating.
Interment will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Lucan Wiggin, Mike Foulks, Mike Hunter, Jason Holder, and Mark Laughlin.
The Anest family expresses a thank you to the Staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville for her the excellent care provided to their mother during her illness.
