Tom Shell Obituary
Tom Shell, 74, of Afton passed very peacefully at his home August 17, 2025. He was a 1969 graduate of Chuchey-Doak High School and 1973 graduate ETSU. He retired with the District Attorney's Office after working 25 years. Tom was a farmer, golfer, hunter, loved the Tennessee Vols and New York Yankees.
Survived by his sisters; Brenda Jones (Wake Forest, NC) and Debra (Earle) Smith (North Augusta, SC), nephews Jabies (Tim) Collins (Johnson City, TN) and Ross (Kristen) Smith (North Augusta, SC), niece Mallory Smith Barber (Charleston, SC), great nephew and niece Grant and Harper Smith (North Augusta, SC) and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents J.T. and Keasle (Honey) Shell and daughter Tonya Shell (May 2025).
Tonya was a 1997 graduate of Chuckey-Doak High School and a former employed by Greene County School System. She is preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Broyles Kilday.
A memorial service for Tom and Tonya to be held on Saturday, October 4 at Jeffers Funeral Chapel in Afton, with visitation prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with Rev Cecil C. Mills, Jr. conducting the service.
Private service with inurnment in Fairview CP Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society or Greeneville Greene County Community Ministeries.
