Gladys Maynard Obituary

Gladys D. (Davenport) Maynard, age 92, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born in Warren County, Tennessee on May 25, 1933 to Ralph and Ora Lee (Summers) Davenport. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1952.

Gladys worked for Western Electric as an assembly worker for several years and then went on to work for Rockwell (Boeing) as a housekeeper before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved bowling, crocheting, collecting dolls, and gardening. Gladys especially loved growing flowers and was known for her beautiful roses. She won several awards from Greenfield in Bloom and enjoyed hummingbirds that frequently visited her each year.

She is survived by her children, Randall J (Terri) Maynard, Joy K. Carf, and Tammy J. (Robert Robinson) Maynard; five grandchildren, Shelley Maynard, Joshua Maynard, Justin Maynard, Ashley (Scott) Siegel, and Megan (Codie) Pate; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Charlotte, and Gunnar; and sister, Thelma Craig. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William C Maynard; granddaughter, Jennifer Maynard; sister, Geneva Crook; and brother, Heman S. Davenport.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Due to family medical conditions, the family asks that guests do not send fresh flowers and refrain from wearing cologne, perfumes, and other fragrances.
