Eden Carl "Donnie" Thomas (Squirrel), 78, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Morehead Nursing Center.A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.Donnie was born March 31, 1938 in Spray, NC, to the late Carl Thomas and Vivian Lemons Cruise. He was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills, Rug Division as a machinist. Donnie was a member of the local American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was an avid sports fan and fisherman.He is survived by his daughters, Renee Thomas (Edward Matthews) of Eden and Regina Hall (John) of Stoneville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ruth Ellis Thomas; and his sister, Blenda Shelton.The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 to 8 p.m., at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com.
