GREENSBORO Cassandra Lytle Mangum, "Cassie," passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on June 12, 2018, after a twelve-year hard-fought bout with ovarian cancer. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro, North Carolina. Cassie was a teacher and education administrator in North Carolina schools for 25 years, positively influencing generations of children and young adults. Her love for travel and adventure took her all over the world, including India, Europe, and many places in the US. Her greatest joy was being with family and grandkids. She was a true inspiration to many during her battle with cancer as she continued to work full time, spend treasured time with family and friends, traveled extensively, and obtained her master's and Ph.D. in education. Cassie will be forever remembered by her husband, Bill Mangum, her sister Marcie Fleener, two sons, Matt and Josh Mangum, her two daughters-in-law, Leanna and Kimmie Mangum, and her four grandchildren, Carter, Lucy, Miller, and Penny. The wake/visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410.
