Charles Bryson Obituary

Charles F. Bryson

January 16, 1940 - September 2, 2024

Charles F. Bryson, 84, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Monday, September 2, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Charles was born January, 16, 1940 to Clara and Frank Bryson, both deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Moore Bryson; son, Timothy Bryson; daughter Renee Bryson Mansir and her husband Matt; and the love of his life, grandson, Christopher Scott Mansir; and his finance, Natalie King; as well as his sister, Cathy Burke.

Charles graduated from Greensboro Senior High School (Grimsley) where he played baseball. He collected baseball cards at a younger age. His love for baseball led him to coach a team of boys that won in the pony league series. He was an avid gardener and planted a garden yearly in his backyard. The love of gardening led him to work part time at Guilford Garden Center for many years. He was a scout master of Boy Scout Troop 119, First Moravian Church where he taught merit badges and assisted many young boys in obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout as well as his son. He never met a stranger and had a memory like no other. He served in the US Navy on the USS Forrestal. He was an engineer with Gilbarco, Bell Labs and retired as a Building Inspector for the City of Greensboro. He loved the Lord and served many years at Guilford Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Teacher and on numerous committees. He also attended Hunter Hills Baptist Church where he taught for several years. He served as a volunteer at Greensboro Academy for 9 years and a service award was established in his honor. His kindness even during his illness, his faith, leadership, and steadfast love of God, his country and his family will always be remembered.

A memorial service will be held at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 North Elm Street, September 14th at 2 p.m., conducted by Dr. Adrian Harris with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Awaken Church, Oak Ridge, 7016 Pearson Run Court, Summerfield, NC, 27358.
