Edward Hendricks Obituary

Edward Gray Hendricks, Jr.

February 25, 1952 - April 25, 2025

Edward Gray Hendricks Jr. passed away Friday, April 25, at the age of 73, surrounded by family.

Ed grew up in Mocksville, NC. Growing up he liked to fish, hunt, swim and play baseball. He was a Boy Scout and a lifeguard at the local pool.

At Davie County High School he was a civil rights advocate and talented football player.

Ed fondly remembered his time at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he made life-long friends. Ed was a major Tar Heel sports fan. Born, Bred, and Dead.

Ed was a member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. His service to the church as an elder and member of the mission committee had considerable outreach and impact.

Ed was an avid fisherman and always looked forward to trips to the coast with his closest friends. He loved to ride his bike and in later years picked up disc golf. Ed was a good cook and would make meals for the family on holidays and other gatherings. Ed loved trips to the mountains and time outdoors.

Ed worked 32 years for Ciba Specialty Chemicals as a Marketing Director and Product Manager. He retired after 8 years as a Project Manager at RJ Reynolds.

Ed is predeceased by his father Edward Hendricks, and mother Margaret Hendricks. He is survived by his wife, Jaime Hendricks; sons, Ethan (Jennifer) and Parker; grandsons, Bennett and Carter; and sister, Anne Elam.

Ed worked hard and led his family as a devoted father and husband. He will be deeply missed by his best friend Jaime, his family, and those who knew him best.

A Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of Life will be held at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. A reception in the fellowship hall is to follow.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Brain Tumor Network, give.braintumornetwork.org, the V Foundation, donate.v.org and Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, guilfordpark.org

Just remembering sitting around your Greensboro house with the whole gang (Ethan´s gboro/UNC crew), Ed listening to us chat and being in disbelief with some of our wilder takes. "Who is derl anyway?" Love you and family - will remember him fondly.

I worked with Ed at Ciba Specialty Chemicals and also his wife Jaime. I remember the birth of his children when Ed brought bubble gum cigars and goo-goo candies to all his colleagues to celebrate! Ed was one of the kindest, hardworking people I have ever known. He will be sorely missed by all.
