Ernest McFetters Obituary

GREENSBORO ERNEST JAMES MCFETTERS, JR., PASSED away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his home in Wilmington, NC. "E.J." was born in Greensboro, NC on December 15, 1928. He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. He graduated from High Point College. He was married to Joyce Wells McFetters for 64 years.E.J. was an integral part of the Greensboro, NC business community where he was second generation owner and President of Carolina Loom Reed Company, Inc. A charter member of Parkway Baptist Church, E.J. led by example, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Chairman of the Deacons. He also rose to the rank of Master Mason in Revolution Lodge no. 552. His simple acts of kindness and generosity, year after year were gifts of hope for strangers, friends and those in need. E.J.'s most cherished moments were spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J., Sr. and Edna McFetters, his brother and sister, Richard McFetters and Peggy Robinson. He is survived by his wife Joyce, children, Terry Ball (Dwight); Randy McFetters; Pam Yarboro (Steve); Susan Lang (Don); and Donna Blackwell (Johnny), 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Parkway Baptist Church, 1411 Benjamin Parkway, Greensboro, NC 27408.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
