Henson Canady Obituary

GREENSBORO Henson "Papaw" Turner Canady, Jr. went to his home in Heaven on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Born to the late Henson Turner Canady, Sr. and Berta Oakley Canady on November 14, 1932 in Reidsville, NC. Although he lived in Greensboro for 57 years, he went back to his homeplace every chance he got. He served in France and Germany during his time in the Army and retired from Black Cadillac after 36 years of service.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Minnie Sue Johnson Canady and their two sons, Curtis Canady (Rita) and Craig Canady (Teresa). Also surviving are his five grandchildren, whom he adored, Heather Dotter (Robert), Ryan Canady, Amy Canady, Caelan Canady and Lauren Canady, along with two great-grandchildren, Myles and Pierce Dotter. We love you Papaw.Never one to meet a stranger, he always had a story to tell and advice to give. His family will miss him dearly but are thankful for the time they had with him.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.The family will receive friends prior to the service at 9:30 AM, Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Avenue Baptist Church, 3711 Martin Ave, Greensboro NC, 27405.Online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel is assisting the family.
