Jake McSwain Obituary
January 5, 1950 - December 3, 2022
Jake David McSwain passed away on December 3rd, 2022, in Oak Ridge, NC. He was born on January 5th, 1950, in Rutherford County, NC, the only child of Willie Tate and Louise Clayton McSwain.
Jake was a graduate of East Rutherford High School in Forest City, NC, and Appalachian State University, where as a student he helped put the school on computer registration. He spent his entire professional career working with computers. He retired from Volvo in management and information technology in Greensboro, NC.
Jake was a talented guitar player whether playing in bands as a teenager in the 60s or "in concert" on his front porch in recent years. He skillfully rendered beautiful ballads and classic rock songs.
Jake is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria, and his daughter, Holly, of the home; brother-in-law, Daryl Groce of Advance, NC. His cremated remains will be taken to Forest City, NC in the Spring for burial at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church beside his parents.
