Dr. Jerome Irvin "Jerry" Davis, 73, of Greensboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Jerry was born in Guilford County to the late Kirby and Claire Huneycutt Davis. He graduated from Wake Forest University and Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He was a kind and caring physician with a positive attitude and a smile for everyone and impacted the life of others through his work with NC Physicians Health Program "PHP" and Fellowship Hall. He was an active member at West Market United Methodist Church, where he participated in various programs. He was a proud Demon Deacon fan and loved golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Davis, and sister, Joan Davis Matheny.
Survived by wife, Cathy Davis; daughter, Abbey; and grandson, Braxton; nieces, Betsy Driskell and Margaret Ray; and nephew Tripp Matheny.
The family would like to thank the caring professionals at Wesley Long and Moses Cone Hospitals who showed Jerry respect, compassion, and extraordinary care.

I cannot possibly say enough about Jerry Davis. He gave me a job with him at Battleground Urgent Care and he showed me the way to come out of a dark place in my life. I could not have done it without him. I will miss you Jerry and always smile as I remember your laugh.

I worked with Dr Davis many years ago at Battleground Urgent Care when I was still an "infant" in the health field. He taught me so much and made every day at the office so much more fun with his stories, laughter and, infectious smile. My deepest sympathies to his entire family. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to each and every friend and family member of Dr. Davis. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Davis informally on multiple occasions. Each and every time we parted he left me feeling better than he found me. He was one of the good guys! RIP Dr. Davis.

Jerry and I grew up on the same street in Reidsville and graduated together the same year. Neither of us imagined that years later our relationship would be renewed in Greensboro when we interacted as physician and pharmacist. It is very sad to learn of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I was so sad to learn of Jerry's death. I had no idea he had been ill. "Dago" and I have been friends since college and I have lots of great memories of him from Kappa Sig parties and from Wake Forest ball games. Deepest sympathy to his family and rest in peace my old friend.
